Roy Thomas
Dr. Thomas has passed away.
Dr. Thomas was a teacher at Benton High School from 1978 - 1987*. He received his Bachelor of Science from Southwestern University of Oklahoma. He earned his Master of Arts at La. Tech University. Dr. Thomas also received a Doctorate from NSU.
Dr. Thomas taught Geometry, Trigonometry, Advanced Math, Elementary Algebra and Advanced Algebra. He was also the Mu Alpha Theta Sponsor.
Dr. Thomas gave me the inspiration and drive to not only understand Trig and Calculas, but also gave me the courage and confidence to excel at it. He also was the first teacher to recognize that I had low-blood sugar (hypoglycemia). He would have me eat a candy bar every morning in his class. On some occasions he had already brought me one. Little did he know that was the worst thing for low-blood sugar, but I still appreciated the nurturing efforts of a man in my life. He will always be remembered fondly by me. They really do not make teachers like him anymore.
