I am writing this article with the hopes that this proves to be informative to those of you whom are beginning to plan your own reunion. These are the steps that we took to plan our reunion; your class may decide to take different steps in organizing your own. When we began planning our Benton High School Class of 1999 Tenth Reunion in December of 2007, we had no real idea where to start and one thing we have certainly learned through our journey is that pre-planning is a must in order to have a successful reunion.

The Pre-Planning Process: Begin to get organized!

One of our classmates began by checking out some material from her local library- who knew there were so many books available for Reunion Planning! We began by setting up an informal MySpace page and inviting any Benton High School 1999 MySpace users to join. We had a good response to our page and plans began to evolve for an informal pre-pre planning meeting, which we held on January 24th, 2008, at a local restaurant. At our meeting, we had a group of about 15 former classmates and discussed what we wanted, what we didn’t want, budgeting, and how to find more classmates. Keep in mind that this meeting was held 18 months before our 2009 reunion. Again, the one main thing we have certainly learned is that pre-planning is a must in order to have a successful reunion.
